Has anyone managed to pull this monitor apart using the LCD panel in an ohp setup? Would be good to know that it's compatible for such purposes.

Also, does anyone know of any other good 14inch monitors that can be used for DIY OHP projection purposes?

Wellcome Wingchun, No one has gotten that particular monitor, unless they havent said anything yet!
If you get one, you can post pics etc.

Awesome sighting Nemesis!

For some reason I can't see if it sold, funny thing is i've bought from those people before and they are great! £99 is a lot to just pull apart but that eBay sighting was a bargain and if i'd looked sooner I would have bought it Evil or Very Mad Evil or Very Mad

I took a tablet PC apart today, it has a 10" XGA panel,i could barely bring myself to put it back together Evil or Very Mad but in the end knowing it would be awkward to connect a monitor too (would need a PCMCIA video input card) i left it in peace Sad

Hmmm... i reckon Comet cocked up:

Still, even if it is 1280 x 768 that's a nice resolution!

Also: never seen Comet auctions before

Ok it arrived and it's very interesting (for a monitor that is lol). The resolution is 1280 x 800, there is also a 1280x768 edition but i got lucky.

The screen is pretty nice, one of those glossy finish types. The first thing i noticed was it's only backlit from one edge and the viewing angle is poor. I took it apart and suprise suprise it's a laptop screen with a LVDS controller board. It's perfect for an LCD projector! The flat connectors are all along one edge and being a laptop display there's a nice long wire to the controller board (which is very small). I'm just wondering if I can find any smaller LVDS screens i can hook upto it?!

I'll post some pictures up later!

EDIT: I looked up the controller chip and it's a Genesis gmZAN3SL, from what i've read so far it's capped at 1280 x 1024 resolution
