Hi all,
This forum was looking a bit empty so I thought I'd be the first to post a couple of pics of an OHP Projector. Smile

Ingredients:
NEC 1510v - 15" LCD
Elmo HP-2850S - 400W OHP
Bluetack
Cable Ties
Blue Electrical Tape

I am still waiting for one rather vital part to be delivered though, the power supply for the lcd hasn't arrived yet! I haven't turned the lcd on yet since I took delivery of it and I'm hoping that I haven't ruined it taking it apart. Fingers crossed I'll have pics of it working on monday!

I'd like to add that I purchased the lcd from Doug the creator of these forums. He's a great bloke, really helpful, and I took delivery of the lcd about 20 hours after I bought it!!

Thanks for looking,
Greg

Thanks for your post Greg!

That should be a great setup, especially with the 400W bulb you should have a nice bright picture.

It might be worth screwing that green earth wire down and (if you haven't already) put a bit of insulating tape under the switch circuit so nothing shorts out on the back.

I like the way you've used the metal frame to hold the panel, that way it's raised a bit from the OHP.

There's an important point Toms Hardware missed. The panels has two polarisers, one on each side. It also has red, green and blue colour filters on each pixel. The first polariser will absorb at least 50% of the incident light from the OHP bulb. Then the colour filters will absorb a furthur 66% each roughly speaking. The result is that the panel heats up so keep a careful watch on the temperature!

I overheated mine once and it turned dark in the middle. Luckily there was no permenant damage!

Ok thanks for the tips doug.

As for cooling I've got a 12" deskfan on standby until I get back to uni where I've got a spare ATX power supply and a couple of 80mm fans. Hopefully by then I will have put it all on a wood frame! I was google'ing and found this link to aspire to!

Yeah that one you posted does look like the image is nice and bright, the frame is kinda similar to mine. I'm going to post some more pics up over the next few days so you can see a bit more!

Got my power lead this morning for the NEC 1510v so here are some pics of the projector in action playing the family guy movie. The screen was about 2m for these I think. You can see my 28" tv in one of the pics for a size comparison!

I'm really pleased with the results, I never thought I would be able to get a projected screen like this for just £132 and a small amount of effort.

Thanks for looking! Very Happy

Greg's results are rather impressive... What kinf of surface are you projecting onto? Is it a screen or just the wall ?

Willy!

I'm just projecting straight onto the wall. Its a matt magnolia emulsion which obviously helps!

I've just managed to get my xbox going on it so I'll post a few more pics up soon. XBMC visualisations filling the whole wall is pretty cool!!
